The year 2025 was an intense and meaningful one for the Panevėžys Cultural Centre, marked by an active cultural life, significant changes in infrastructure and consistent activities that bring together different audiences through art, traditions and contemporary initiatives.
The Cultural Centre has remained the main organiser of the city’s major festivals. The city’s birthday, national holidays, the lighting of the Christmas tree, Užgavėnės (Midsummer), Joninės (Midsummer) and other traditional events attracted large crowds and became an important part of Panevėžys’ identity. Alongside the major events, smaller cultural encounters took place, allowing residents to experience culture in a more intimate and cosy format.
An important part of the activities of the Panevėžys Cultural Centre are the amateur art groups that have actively participated in the cultural life of the city and represented Panevėžys in republican and international festivals and competitions. The artistic level and continuity of their activities was ensured by the long-established directors Zita Rimkuvienė, Dalia Gaspariūnienė, Dainora Venslovienė, Vytautas Murauskas, as well as by the director Justas Nagrockis, whose professionalism and consistent work contributed significantly to the growth and visibility of the groups.
The traditional “Let’s Meet on Friday” festival continued throughout the summer, inviting the city’s inhabitants and visitors to open spaces every Friday in summer. Music, dance and live performances created a lively atmosphere in the city and strengthened the accessibility of culture in an informal setting.
There have also been significant changes in infrastructure. Renovations of the Great Hall continued, the events hall was renovated and a lift for people with disabilities was added to improve accessibility for visitors. These decisions reflect a purposeful commitment to creating a modern, comfortable and open cultural space for all.
Panevėžys Cultural Centre also actively provided room rental and event services, from conferences and concerts to personal or representative events. The availability of space, technical and organisational support in one place has made the Centre a reliable partner for residents, corporate and institutional clients.
Looking back over the past year, the Panevėžys Cultural Centre remains a strong and growing cultural institution, combining tradition, creativity and modern solutions. It is a place where cultural value is consistently created, talents are nurtured and the cultural identity of the city is strengthened.
